Every online company needs to consider Search Engine Optimization in order to stay relevant and increase market share in their industry. After all, if you aren’t appearing online when customers are searching for a company exactly like yours – that’s a huge problem!

There are many ways to promote your company, so when is the time invest in SEO?

  1. When traditional paid advertising stagnates
  2. When expertise is an issue
  3. When time is an issue
  4. When growth is a must

  1. When traditional paid advertising stagnates

There are many options to promote your business, whether online or outside. Digital marketing in particular has seen a rapid growth and most business’s marketing strategies are having a hard time catching up. From Social Media ad campaigns to Google’s Pay Per Click advertising, companies today are taking advantage of an ever increasing number of marketing options. Some companies have seen incredible growth from these advertising options; but for most businesses, Return On Investment climbs quickly and then plateaus. So then what’s the next step? How can you consistently snowball your revenues while paying the same? Take a look at the following graph:

raph displaying the difference between professional seo services and paid advertising campaigns with regard to long-term value (this is of course in the time span of months).

The graph above illustrates that the effect of SEO investment continues to snowball while paid advertising stagnates. Paid advertising campaigns can be extremely useful when launching a company or a new product since it allows your business to gain a bit of traffic quickly. Without paid advertising, many companies wouldn’t have the capital to invest in more lucrative marketing options and would be trapped. However, despite this strategy working relatively well, straight-forward and requiring little expertise in the short-term, most companies struggle after launch due to their sales or customer inflow stagnating.

Search Engine Optimization fits in by offering continual growth over a longer investment. The cost of the campaign remains the same while your company rapidly increases its flux of new leads or customers, even after the campaign has ended. This effect is due to the nature of Search Engines’ (Primarily Google) algorithms. The longer your website is deemed useful, the more that search engines direct interested people your company’s website. This is accomplished by listing your website higher for specific search terms people type-in. The more authority or popularity your company seems have in search engines’ eyes, the higher rank (and position) it gives to your website. Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving your business’s website so that it appears higher in search engine results and for more people searching for your business (directly correlating with greater customer/client influx and revenue generated).

More detail will be provided in later posts regarding the specifics of what to do to improve your website and its popularity in the eyes of your target audience (aka the customers/clients you want most).
